AI for Science: From Scientist to Founder

Translating discoveries into impact: AI for Science

AI is rewriting scientific discovery. Advanced models are predicting molecular behaviour, designing new materials and identifying drug targets faster than ever. From robotics and lab-in-the-loop hardware to drug discovery, materials science, neuroscience and AgTech – AI is opening up possibilities we're only beginning to grasp.

But the path from research to real-world impact isn't always clear.

Hear directly from founders and builders at the intersection of AI and science, driving this next wave of progress. They’ll share practical insights, hard won lessons and tangible next steps for how to build an AI for Science startup.

We’ll explore:

>> What's Holding Us Back? Despite rapid advances in AI, the systems around science remain misaligned with this new era. What processes and tools are most helpful in bridging the gap, and what gaps remain?

>> What Does A Reimagined Stack Look Like? We're in the earliest stages of rebuilding the technical foundations of science itself. But what does the AI-for-science stack actually look like today, for teams which are building from the ground up?

>> What Comes Next? What do the first few weeks of an AI for Science startup actually look like? What’s the blueprint for scientists turned founders - what are the key pitfalls to avoid and critical unlocks that accelerate growth?

If you're building an AI for Science startup, a scientist exploring how to translate your research into impact, or simply trying to understand the full scope of what's now possible – this conversation is for you

This event is being delivered by King's E-Lab, the Cambridge Female Founders Network, ConceptionX and IQ Capital.

The King’s Entrepreneurship Lab (E-Lab) provides students with entrepreneurial skills and supports those interested in careers in innovation, with a focus on social and sustainability projects. It aims to foster an inclusive community of entrepreneurial minds across the University of Cambridge, offering residential programmes, research fellowships, weekly speaker series and workshops, and tailored guidance and mentorship. www.kingselab.org

The Cambridge Female Founders Network (CFFN) is a founder-led community of 200 women building ambitious ventures across the Cambridge Cluster. Bringing together founders across stages and sectors, CFFN builds peer-to-peer systems that unlock capital, amplify visibility, and create the strategic connections that drive growth. www.cambridgefemalefounders.com

Conception X is the top PhD Deeptech accelerator in the UK and Europe, helping early career researchers explore the potential of their technology and build top startups, now valued at £1 billion. https://www.conceptionx.org
